Gary,
Can anything be done about the traffic light management at the end of Bryn Road at the junction with Bolton Road?
Trying to turn left when the lights are only on green for 16 seconds (yes, I've timed them) is ludicrous. Around 4.30-5pm when the South Lancs Industrial Estate workers are leaving, the traffic is backed up to Griffin House. The situation is exacerbated if a couple of cars are in the right hand lane (heading towards Ashton) with a lorry behind them partially blocking the left hand lane.
Comment Hi Anne,
This issue has been raised brfore and the Traffic Dept said it would be dealt with, they said it was due to a faulty light and then road works.
I will e-mail Kevin Hargreaves who deals with traffic light issues.
Keep you posted and thanks.

Is there anything you can do about the diabolical parking on Ashton Market's site. It's a nightmare, especially on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Any chance of marked bays?
Comment Thank for your comments Mike,
I agree it does need marking, but I fear if it was they may make it pay and display.
I will ask our Area Eng for her comments.
regards and thanks
Gary
Hi Gary,
Good luck with your banana campaign!
I find it extraordinary that the Council can afford to pay refuse collectors double time to work Easter Monday but can't afford bananas for schoolchildren!
Both situations (the bin non-collection most people had as well as the bananas) are just, well, bananas.
Garry,
During March 2009 there was a crash at the junction leading onto landgate estate from Wigan road. It comes as no surprise to me that an accident occurred, the junction is simply awful! Getting off landgate estate during rush hour can be a real nightmare! Is there any chance of a mini round-about being placed there to denture speeding cars and also to help motorists navigate this difficult part of bryns roads.
Cheers.
Comment HI Tom
Thank you for your posting.
I was not aware of an accident at this junction.
I will request that Traffic take this up and get back to you with some information.
Regards
Gary

The Bryn Ward Christmas Tree this year was magnificent. The best one yet.But what happened to the lights? I didn't see them on since about two days after Boxing Day.
Comment Hi TH, Thank you for your kind comments regarding the Bryn Ward Christmas Tree.
We have had a few gremlins in the lights this year, we think it may be a water, We have only had reports this week of the lights being out for so long, so sorry for that , if we had known sooner we could have asked the Eng Dept to get them fixed.
Would you like a tree simular to Ashton or are you happy to have a real Christmas Tree?
We are intrested in what views people have on this subject.
Thanks Gary

Please, please have a real tree again next Christmas. The artificial tree at the library was visually horrible.
I would not be too bothered if the money went to something else. BUT please, if we are to have a Christmas Tree, let's have a real one, not one of those monstosities that was outside the library. We have been told it is re-usable, I would like to see the REAL cost of doing this.

Both,
We all agree a real Tree is the best but in order to save tax payers money we must keep an eye on the cost of supplying such a big tree, we may need to scale the size down a little this year.
Thanks to you both for your input we all appreciate you comments.

Planning application Fairholme Avenue.
Proposal to build houses in the back field, Eskdale, Bowland Avenues.
Gary, this issue must be kept high on your agenda, as I am sure it is, but the people of not only Bryn but also Ashton should be aware of this,in terms of possible flooding in the areas down stream of Jacks Brook. People who live on Alexandra Road and the Strand are most probably unaware that it could affect them, also the Town centre of Ashton, where Jacks Brook meets Millingford Brook. Flooding is a real threat and concern.
Phil Hayden.
Comment I will be having a site visit on 22nd Dec with the Environment Agency about this planning application, we will visit jack Brook and the culvert.
Keep you posted.

Hi Brynner,
We are realy pleased with our Tree this year it looks a very good one.
Who will turn on the lights, well we will be doing a raffle and the winner of the raffle will turn on the lights, so it may be YOU....
Thanks again for your posting, is it too early to wish you and your family a peace full Christmas?
All the best anyway.

Looking at the size of this years tree, it looks like you got the one from Trafalgar Square. Pity we haven't the fountains as well, we could chuck our councillors in!!(only joking)
