Why I support investment from the Chinese ... How can we turn down such a great opportunity for our Borough?
If we hadn't taken it up the proposition would have been open to either St Helens or Warrington.
Shall we stop buying products from China because of issues we have with them?
No, the only way to change Governments is to talk and treat them as a friend, and not an enemy.
Look what is happening with Iran?
It will mean more jobs and more investment for our town, how can anyone object to that?
Hi Gary
I have just got my Borough Life, Who pays for this publication? With fifteen mentions of Labour Councillors and not one of any other party, I know who should. Accepting the mayor is neutral, that still leaves fourteen and two photographs.
Perhaps it should be renamed, NEw Labour Dandelion.

Comment You the Public pay for this out of your Council tax.
I agree with what you have said and made similar comments in Full Council, but we have failed to get a balance in the Mag.
Other Councils do have a fair representation of the Council like Chorley, Wigan seem to make their own rules up.
No surprise there.

Gary

How can you waste time complaining over the colour of a building such as the Taybarns Restaurant, when eyesores such as Ashton town hall are crumbling and brightly coloured election material remain at Bryn Cross.
Get your own town in order before critising others.
Comment Thank you for your time to leave a comment.
1. The election material is not mine that is still up in Bryn, but you are right it needs to be removed; I will personally see to this.
2. Would you please tell me where Ashton Town Hall is crumbling?
3. The Taybarn issue is not just about the bright colour, the press has kindly picked up on this; but it is not the whole picture.
Taybarns have changed the look of the building by removing the original brick and wooden cladding; they have built an extension to the rear and made other changes; and all this without planning permission.
If you or I started to build say a porch or even a 7ft fence around our property, the Council would be around like a shot to stop us from building and tell us to apply for planning permission.
All your neighbours would have been informed and everybody would be given the chance to support or object.
This process has not been followed with the above, it is this that I am arguing; not just the colour; the whole situation is wrong.
I have no problem with the staff or the food at Taybarns, just what the brewery have done.
Shall we have a free for all when it comes to planning issues? Would you like to live across it?
Do you think you should be informed of changes to a building you live across from?
Planning Law is there to protect us all and it should not be abused in any way.
You have a constitutional right to support Taybarns at the Planning Committee; see you there.
Hi Gary
Can you throw more light on the newspaper article re Wigan Council being brought to task over "Chinagate"

Comment Hi Alan,
W.M.B.C has been criticized for their handling of the P.R prior to informing Councillors and Officers.
When the Overview and Scrutiny Called this in, which I was, one who Supported the Call in, We had very limited time to request Witnesses to appear, i.e. Lord Peter Smith was one Cllr who had prior engagements and did not give evidence, this process has also been criticized.
Full Council will be able to debate this on Sept 3rd which is the next full Council meeting you are welcome to come along to listen to what the ruling group will say in their defence.
For the record; I welcome the investment on this scale to Wigan, but Opposition Cllrs must be kept up to date on progress and NOT treated like mushrooms.
Thanks Alan
Regards
Gary

When the entire world is up in arms against China's human rights abuse , why are you in favour of bringing Chinese companies to our borough?
Once again congratulations to the Bryn Councillors in providing a beautiful floral display at Bryn and the Planters inside the Library grounds. What happened to the displays in Ashton?.
Well done you three

Thank You Mrs Glover.
Its all Down to Cllr Hodgkinson and his persistance to pay for the best, Cllr Merry and I just support him and water on the rare occation.
Best Wishes
Gary
Mr Wilkes, I do not want to be to long winded in this emai, but as you are aware Planning permission has been re submiitted for houses on the Field at the rear of, Fairholme Ave, Eskdale Drive, Bowland Avenue,in Ashton WN4 8LL.
People should be made aware of this as the Council seem to have missed informing serveral households in the area. This issue has been ongoing for several years, and there has always been strong opposition to it. However, how can people object to these new plans if they do not know that plans have been re submitted? Plans that have not changed from last year. Phil Hayden.

Your last reply reminds me of the "two Ronnies" when the answered the last question, it was out of sync. What was the question?
