Hi Gary,
I see in the local paper that some council workers are being investigated for fraud. I have also heard that some of our elected representatives did not know about it until it was in the paper.
I realise that it is important not to compromise any investigations and resultant prosectution, if any, but, on something so important, shouldn't the councillors have been informed in confidence?
What are your views?

Hi Alan,
Thanks for your e-mail.
I have made a complaint to the Chief Executive tonight regarding that very issue.
At the very least opposition Leaders should have been briefed about ongoing enquires.
It speaks volumes that we as opposition members have to buy a local news paper to find out whats going on in our Town Hall.
Thanks again,
Gary
Gary, I must congratulate you and your team for the splendid switch on last night, it just shows what can be done when everyone pulls together.
Thanks to Don and Brian, I know it has been very hard work but it paid off.
Take time out now, you three need to relax.

Gary, any news on my moan about the Old Road/Harold Avenue situation regarding parked cars and the possibility of having lines put down on the Old Rd bit?
Thanks for your time

I have been told by one of my colleges that the Eng Dept will be looking at not only Harrold Ave but all the roads leading to Old Rd.
This is a scheme to help with parking problems, in the Area.
I will keep you posted with details.
Regards
Gary
I would like to thank you for taking up my idea of having a new bench for the great view of winter hill. It just goes to show that having this website up and running is a great idea, Where local people can come up with ideas and can be implemented.
Thank you for your work.
Tom.

Hi Tom,
Yes, a Good idea.
The best view in Ashton and Bryn
Many Thanks
Yes, I agree, this is a good site and I like the fact that the gent is honest enough to answer questions with honesty as well.
I dont live in Bryn - tho' i used to - and I can see (when driving through) that the area is beginning to look a bit more 'on the map' shall we say.
We could do with a few more like this Cllr Wilkes in the Council couldnt we?
Comment from Gary Wilkes 20.11.2007 - 20:46
Many Thanks for your kind Comments.
Can you say which area you are from?
We do need more people involved with local issues elected, as the simple issues still remain, like the dog muck, missed bins and the vandalism to our town etc.
Im just a local lad trying to make a difference.
There are good Councilors in Every Ward, but we need more Independent’s elected and less people following the Party Lines.
Thanks again for your posting.
Gary
i asked was it possible for the names on the members of the council that voted FOR the culling of the birds.

It may take you some time but it will be documented.
Thanks for your comments

Hi Gary
I have just heard that over one billion text messages are sent each week in this country. Yet people are objecting to mobile phone masts. The two don't seem to go together, especially when you see so many people walking round with a piece of plastic stuck near their ear as well.
Any comment
Alan
Comment Hi Alan,
Mmm I see your point, but the Government does have a policy to promote mast sharing between the big Telecommunication companies but to the best of my knowledge it is never implemented.
The Telephone companies create any lame excuse for this not to happen.
They have even created a mast that looks like a tree, to try and blend it in with other surroundings, how many have I seen?
none.
Thanks Alan
